Actor-turned-director AVS is happy at the success of ‘Roommates’, his latest directorial venture.

Speaking about the film, he says, ‘We made the film with a view to provide entertainment to the audiences for two-and-a-half hours. At the same time, we planned the story to have a little suspense and a message. Our experiment proved a success and the film is running well with improvement in collections day after day. Producer CC Reddy is a social-conscious person and he wants the film made on his banner Visu Films should not only entertain the audiences but also give some message. As the subject had all those elements, he accepted to produce it. Moreover, he gave me total freedom in film making and hence the film came out satisfactorily. My earlier two films did not do well as per our expectations, which pinched me a lot and made me to take a strong decision to make this film a winner. I have faced several adverse comments against me for taking up direction again, which I really did not care. The film has proved a success due to good story, its movement, music, comedy, suspense and excellent camera work. After the film’s release, I got compliments from several top directors including B Gopal, SV Krishna Reddy, N Shankar, Neelakantha and Achi Reddy. Though I directed the film to prove my ability, I don’t have an ambition to continue as director. I will remain as an artiste and venture into production if I get a good subject that would inspire me.’
